花豆テントの中で、朝のひと時。蜂とハチドリの羽音だけがブンブン聞こえる。そしてそこには、シェルビーと朝一のコーヒー。最高のツーショットです。

A few moments in the morning under the bean teepee.  Buzzing of the bees and hummingbirds is the only sound to be heard.  And there… are Shelby and the first cup of coffee.  A fine morning, it is.

今回は畑荒しではなく、お仕事中です。この畑は今年、植物の育ちが良くないので、冬用の畑を造る準備を始めました。鳥達は上手に土を引っ掻いて、虫を食べたり、堆肥を混ぜ込んだり、良い働きっぷりを見せてくれます。

This time, they are actually working, not destroying.  This garden is not producing well this year, so work has started to prepare the bed for Winter crops.  The birds are master tillers, pest managers, and compost-mixers; and with a strong work ethic.

野生化したトマト、かぼちゃ等がワサワサ。Naturalized tomatoes, squashes, and stuff.

畑を耕したり、列を整えたり、肥料を入れて見たり、せっせと水やりしたり、色々やって見るけれど。。。結局は、自然任せにした所が一番綺麗だったりする。分かってたけど。

Dig up the garden beds, tidy up the rows, add compost, water diligently… all that work to keep a garden going; in the end, the feral plants left up to nature turn out to be the most beautiful and flourishing.  We knew that, didn’t we?

朝日の中に、見逃してしまいそうなほど繊細な糸。これを一晩で造ってしまう蜘蛛って、すごくないですか？

The delicate web can barely be seen in the light of the morning.  Isn’t the spider amazing? To build this in just one night?

青いブドウの実が連なる。Grapes everywhere.

トマトも。And tomatoes.

ガーリックはもう収穫できるかな？Garlic appears to be ready for harvest.

今年初のズッキーニ。And the start of the summer squashes.

暑いです。２７度、これで精一杯。ダラダラ過ごすしか出来ない、この頃です。

It is HOT.  27 degrees, is already a bit much.  All we can do is to lie around lazily…

うまい具合に交代しあう雨と太陽のおかけで、今年は豊作です。チキン達もおこぼれを貰うのに必死。

It’s a good year for Raspberries, thanks to the alternating rain and sunshine that come at the right times.  Chickens’ favourite snacks, too!
