外は真っ白。

Woke up this morning to a white-out.

停電したし、今日はこんな１日でした。

Power was out, too, so the day was spent this way.

一本のカエデの木から、３８袋分の落ち葉をいただきました。

近所から集めてきた落ち葉で、庭の冬支度。大きなゴミ袋が157個。毎年少しずつ、土が元気になれますように。

Preparing the gardens for winter with the leaves from the neighbourhood.  This year, there were 157 bags of leaves all together.  Little by little, the soil will come back to life!

人っ子１人いない朝の森を、１人と１匹でお散歩。冷たい空気を吸いながら歩いていると、森の気が体内に浸透して、身体の感覚が薄れてきます。この不思議な一体感、分かりますか？生きてるなあ〜と思う瞬間。

ここにあの子がいたらなあ！

There is nobody in the woods this misty morning – just the two of us on our walk.  Walking briskly through the forest, breathing in the cold air.  After a while, there is a feeling that the forest spreads through the body, and the bodily senses begin to fade away.  Do you know this feeling – a subtle sense of unity?  It’s this moment that one feels alive.

Only if that boy were here with us!

１２月に入って、世間はすっかりクリスマス気分。柴の森でも少しだけ乗っかってみました。

December has arrived, and the world is fast preparing for Christmas.  Shiba Forest is lighting up just a little bit to share the holiday spirit!
