クリスマスを目の前にして、やっと雪解け。チキン達も数週間ぶりに外に出るようになった。野鳥もお腹が空いているのか、よく寄っていきます。ホシワキアカトウヒチョウとか、ユキヒメドリとか。

It’s just about Christmas, and snow is finally melting away.  Chickens are able to come outside after several weeks of being cooped up.  Wild song birds often stop by for a snack, too – mostly spotted towhees and dark-eyed juncos.

やっと溶け始めた雪の上に、見慣れない足跡。ラクーン（アライグマ）だと思います。家のデッキを下りてすぐの所で見つけました。長い間の雪でお腹が空いているのかな？でも、うちの鳥達は食べないでね！

As the snow finally starts to melt, there are some unusual paw-prints, likely from a raccoon.  They were right at the foot of the stairs of the deck (i.e. coming out of Neo’s cave).  The raccoons must be hungry after all this snow, too.  But, please don’t eat our birds!

まだまだ外は雪。一度解けかけていたところに、また降りました。でも中は薪ストーブでぽっかぽか。

Still snowy outside.  Just as it was starting to melt, came more snow.  But it’s pretty cozy inside, thanks to the wood stove.

本気で降って来た。Here comes some serious snow.

犬は喜び庭駆け回り。They are so happy.

ニオも雪が好きだ！Neo loves snow, too!

積もって来たぞ。It’s starting to stick.

朝日が昇った。The Sun has risen.

木の陰から。Behind the trees.

アヒルは戸惑った。チキンは出て来ない。Ducks are confused. Chickens never came out.

すっかり雪景色。The snow covered gardens.

雪が重すぎて。Heavy snow on the trees.

リンゴの蕾みに氷柱が。An icicle on the apple bud.

今年初めての本気の雪。‘いーぬはよろこび、にわかけまわり。。。’って本当だ。（アヤちゃん以外は）ビックリする程大はしゃぎして、グッタリしています。

The first snow of the season.  Dogs (minus Aja) are LOVING this.  They ran like you wouldn’t believe, and are all in deep sleep now.

一晩で何度か停電したけれど、薪ストーブで温かい！車は出せないので、バイトはお休み。皆でゆっくり過ごすっきゃないな。

The power went out several times during the night, but the wood stove kept us warm!  Driving to work is not happening right now, so no choice but to spend a relaxing evening with the dogs…
